FAQs

Why can't I create a bracket?

There are a few possible reasons: A) the playoff matchups haven't been set yet, B) you are already at the limit of 3 brackets per user (Pro users get 10), C) the window for bracket entries is closed for this season (usually a few days after the first game). If you missed out, be sure to create an account anyway, and we'll email you next year.

Why can't join my friend's group?

It's probably because your entry was created/edited after the start of the first playoff game. If your group owner wants, he can check the "Accept Late Entries?" box on the Edit Group page, and then you'll be allowed in. (Note: there is no late entry for NBA Cup brackets)

Do I need to pick games for the play-in tournament?

We've decided to skip making picks for the play-in, similar to how most NCAA tournament sites handle the play-in. We'll start accepting bracket entries once the regular season is complete and entries will have spots for the play-in winners. You can come back and tweak your entry if need be once the play-in is complete.

What's the deadline for bracket entries?

Playoffs: Entries created/edited after the start of the first playoff game (for 2024, this is Saturday, April 20 at 1pm ET) are not eligible for the leaderboard. However, to give people some more time, the final cutoff isn't until a couple days later after each team has played one game (for 2024, this is Monday, April 22 at 7:30pm ET, although this may change depending on the final schedule).

NBA Cup: Entries lock at the start of the first elimination game (for 2024, this is 7pm ET on Tuesday, December 01). There is no late entry for NBA Cup brackets.

Why am no longer in this group?

Either you were removed from the group by the group's creator or you modified your entry after the start of the playoffs and the group is not set to allow late enties so you were removed automatically.

Scoring (Playoffs)

In the first round, you get 10 points for picking the series winner, with an additional 5 point bonus for getting the number of games correct. This doubles in each round all the way through the NBA Finals. (80 points for winner, 40 point bonus)

Tiebreaker: Should there be a tie at the top of the leaderboard, the entry that was submitted first will be declared the overall winner.

Tiebreaker: Should there be a tie at the top of the leaderboard, the entry that was submitted first will be declared the overall winner.
